Gwen Stefani’s messy hair bun works for “many different occasions”, says a top hair stylist. The singer has been rocking the casually cool look both on-and-off the red carpet of late. Gwen was photographed last week with the look, and also sported the same style with Stella McCartney at a high profile event.

The stylist Johnny Lavoy says the star has proven the hair statement is multipurpose. “This look can work for many different occasions depending on your personal style,” he told Stylelist. “What makes this look so versatile is that even though it’s a form of bun – which is classic – the texture adds an element of casualness and makes it more modern.”

“The great thing about this look is that you can achieve it with freshly shampooed hair or hair that’s not so clean,” he said. “If your hair is clean, I would suggest using a texturising product. If your hair is not freshly shampooed, you can simply use a flexible hairspray.”

Johnny also shared his tips on how to achieve the bun. He says the style is perfect for good and bad hair days.

The hair expert says to get the look start by prepping hair with hairspray or texturising cream and pulling out face framing wisps for a softer effect.

Last week, Gwen spent time away from work with Zuma, Kingston, and hubby Gavin Rossdale at a local playground.

She said: “My kids have a big opinion about it. “I’m just excited. I think that moms’ are going to walk into Target and lose their minds – ‘Are you serious right now? And it’s $20? All right, I’m taking five.’
“I feel really proud of it. It’s fun to be creative. It’s fun to bake the cookies and have everyone eat them. It’s a great feeling.”

She added:
“I really wanted to do this so bad. Being able to make stuff for the right price point and get it out there so people can actually have access to it. This is like the ideal situation to have. It’s really exciting.

“This is really cute and really wearable. It’s so fun-the first time I went in for the fittings, and they brought out all the little mannequins-they actually have diapers on them! When you’re fitting, you’re fitting with a diaper.
“I wanted it to look like all of my signature looks that I’ve done through the years, kind of for children. I wanted to bring fashion to kids.”

Gwen Stefani admits she cried the first time she went to a couture fashion show. Gwen told: “The first time I went to a couture show, I cried. I thought, This is my world – where have I been? I watch Project Runway and there are these people trying to do fashion shows and I think, ‘How did I get into this?’ It’s so amazing that I have three fashion lines.”

But while fashion is her love, it’s not her toughest gig. ‘Being a mother is probably the most challenging thing I do – the responsibility of it is very heavy,’ she admitted. ‘It’s the only thing that matters!’

Gwen Stefani spent the day with her two boys. Gwen was asked by host Ryan Seacrest why the group is touring for the first time in over five years despite not releasing a new album.

That episode, a “backdoor pilot” for a GG spin-off series, will air May 11th.
